Working alongside Nadine Nakache Design, Built Complete delivered a thoughtful series of alterations and additions to this character-filled Haberfield residence. The project balances careful restoration with contemporary craftsmanship, preserving the home’s original identity while creating light-filled spaces designed for modern family life.

Original features were carefully restored including the stained-glass front door, decorative ceiling plasterwork, hallway timber work and the fireplace. Pale timber flooring and a restrained neutral palette allow these heritage details to remain a defining part of the home.

At the rear, the house opens into a dramatic double-height kitchen, living and dining space. Custom timber joinery is paired with richly veined, rose-toned marble, used across the bench-tops, curved island, splash-back and integrated shelving. Skylights, expansive timber-framed windows and doors, and sculptural pendant lighting bring warmth and natural light into the open-plan interior while strengthening its connection to the garden.

A new attic level, accessed by a custom timber staircase, provides valuable additional storage and flexible usable space. Built-in shelving, skylights, a glass balustrade and finely detailed timber handrails allow the new level to feel open and seamlessly connected to the home below.

Two new bathrooms, including a generous ensuite, continue the material language of the kitchen through matching marble surfaces, custom timber vanities, softly textured tiles and refined dark fittings.

A separate, purpose-built office pod was also constructed at the rear of the property. Finished with vertical cladding and timber-framed glazing, it provides a quiet and private workspace within the garden setting.

The completed home brings heritage character and contemporary design together through considered design and construction, beautifully resolved detailing and a warm, cohesive material palette.
